Engineered Drawings OverviewWhen using Engineered Drawings, the County must have verification that you are licensed with this firm to use their drawings. Lacking this proof, the County Plans Examiners are required to reject the plans entirely. We offer two conveniences when submitting Engineered Drawings. Instead of faxing your drawings to us, you can just enter the Engineering firm (like Bennett Engineering) and the version you are using. From there, you need to only enter the page, section, row, and column numbers for each specification. If you have specifications that you use frequently, we offer you the option of saving those and re-using them on another permit. These are what we call "Stored Sets". Stored Sets can be retrieved, modified and used again and again which will save you a considerable amount of typing. When the permit is issued, we will supply you with a PDF document that contains the stamped copies of the drawings you submitted. These will be printed on your printer and posted on the job site. Engineered Drawings - Step By StepThis section deals with entering Engineered Drawings from scratch. We will discuss "Retrieve A Stored Set" later, but if you want to skip to that section now, click here. Otherwise, please follow these steps: 1. Select the "Book" from the Master Engineering field drop-down list.
2. The list displayed above is a sample, and may not be exactly what appears on your screen. If you use a firm that is not displayed in our drop down box, contact the Plans Examiners and if possible we will add them. If your Engineering firm is not listed, you are required to fax these documents in (noting the Application Number in the top left corner of each sheet). 3. There are two fields called Chapter and Page. If your page is numbered A-37 Chapter is "A", and the Page is 37. The dash is not required. If the page is number 6-11, then the Chapter is 6, and Page is 11. If you have any questions about page numbering, call the Plans Examiners. 4. In the "Section" field, enter the section that corresponds to the one which contains the value you want to select. For an explanation of how sections are numbered, click here NOTE: You can only refer to one section at a time. 5. Under "Row" select the row which contains your value. For an explanation of how rows are numbered, click here. NOTE: You can only refer to one row at a time. 6. Under "Column(s)" select the number of the column in this table that contains the value you want. If you need to enter several columns from this same row, separate them with a slash "/". For example, if you want values from columns 3,4 and 7 you would enter 3/4/7 in the Column field. NOTE: You can refer to several columns, but they must be in the same section and row. Your screen should look something like this:
7. If you want to add another entry, click the "Add" button and repeat the steps above until you have entered all your specifications. If you have made a mistake on any of the entries above, you can edit them prior to submitting them. If you need to delete an entry, click on the delete button next to the row to delete. If these are common specifications that you use frequently, you can save them as a "Stored Set" and use them (or parts of them) again on another application. To do so, click on the box labeled "Save These As A Stored Set" checkbox, and give them a meaningful name (Screen Room, 24 x 36 Pool Cage, etc). The next time you do a similar job, you can select them from the "Retrieve Stored Set" box and they will autofill on the screen for you. For directions on Creating, Naming, Retrieving or Editing Stored Sets - click here. When you have entered required entries specs, click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the screen. This will attach these specifications to the permit. If the system detects any bad page numbers, you will be notified. All page numbers must be correct before we will accept them. Once accepted, you are not required to do anything further. If you want to see which specifications you submitted for a specific permit, click here for instructions. |
